First Birthdays: Board Games

Every family has a closet shelf devoted to brightly colored board games. Lydia’s mom is drawing inspiration from her girls’ shelf to celebrate, complete with life-sized versions of the games, a Jenga tower of cheese, and chess teethers as party favors. The front walk will be overlaid with a Candy Land-style runner, and Candy Land also features at the snack table, with giant lollipops and cookies shaped like the players’ avatars.

Connect Four and checkers on the lawn will keep Lydia’s sisters and their cousins busy, while the baby invitees will have foam dice to play with, as well as an archaeological dig site to uncover colorful Jenga pieces. Giant games are so much fun. I always think about getting some for our backyard, but then never get around to doing so!

This is a great themed birthday idea! I love the giant versions of classic games to play in the garden. Great idea.
