First Birthdays: Flapjacks and Lumberjacks

It isn’t often that you roll out of bed and head straight to a party, but that’s exactly what Malachi’s friends and family will be doing when he turns one. They live in New England and there is a good chance that the world will be blanketed in white on the morning of his party, so they’re rolling with it and doing a toasty breakfast at a lodge theme. Pancakes, a plaid dress code (pajamas okay), and a coffee/cocoa/tea bar will help guests imagine they’re at a logging camp.

The family will be setting up a couple of tents for the kids to hang out in. Toy bears will be given out as favors, and fake beards will be worn. There will be a pancake buffet line. Axe throwing and pin the white tail on the deer will be played. I think a breakfast party is a clever idea, even if I’m not a morning person.

  1. What a cute idea for a birthday party. That cake looks a bit over my baking abilities though!
