A Blogger’s Guide to Twitter Hashtags Part II: The Taggening

Welcome back to my blog series on Twitter hashtags! This started as me taking notes for my own use, but I think a lot of us could use help optimizing our Twitter hashtagging.

Dr. Breathe Easy Finance requested a look at financial sector blogs and I will do that in this post, along with other useful tags. Don’t forget to subscribe to my email list here to get new updates to this list! I plan to make this a weekly thing until I’ve scraped the bottom. Please let me know any tags I’ve missed below, and don’t forget to check out part one.

#20plusblogs

Refers to domain authority (in case any of you are even greener than I am). There are 2 posts in this tag. I’m still in the #10plusblogs range.

#30plusblogs

I tagged one of my first posts with this because I thought it referred to age. Hey, I was new. Very busy.

#beardedblogger, #beardedbloggers

#Beardedblogger is used almost exclusively by on person and #beardedbloggers is a ghost town.

#beesocialhive

There was a retweet account for this tag, but they seem to have moved on and are turning their Twitter into a business. Still pretty busy with lifestyle and beauty posts.

#blogdecasamento

Portuguese/Brazilian wedding blog tag. Gets several posts a day.

#blogdenoivas

Portuguese/Brazilian wedding blog tag. Not busy.

#blogg

A misspelling in English, this is a fairly busy tag. Lots of Norweigians/Scandinavians, but even more English speakers.

#bloggerfashion

Surprisingly busy. But it’s mostly Instagram and spam.

#bloggergoals

Around the first of the month people use this to say what they’d like to accomplish (or how many followers they’d like to gain), the rest of the month it is a potpourri of Instagram posts, items bloggers covet, and actual blog posts.

#bloggerhq

The RT account associated with this tag hasn’t been active in over a month. The tag itself has both blogs and other retweet accounts.

#bloggerkind

Only a few people use this tag each day. Not associated with any retweet account.

#bloggerssupportingbloggers

Not used that much, but this would be a great tag for posts in which you promote pin boards, Facebook groups, or are nominating other bloggers for awards.

#bloggingbeesrt

Shout out to Chloe for bringing this tag to the forefront of my memory. Blogger Bees are generous with their retweets. As a result, the tag is hopping.

#bloggingmylife

Pretty much just one life.

#blogoftheday

Mostly used by my Twitter mutual TheWriteReads to anoint their daily favorite, with a smattering of unconnected posts

#blogstocome

Very rarely used, this tag is for showing things you plan to write about in the future.

#blogtubers

This tag is fairly sparse and is connected to a retweet account that seems to have gone ghost.

#BostikBlogger

Sponsored posts. Crafty people showing off their products using Bostik branded supplies.

#budgetblogger

This is a very under utilized tag. It’s mostly my Twitter mutual Dian Farmer.

#businessblog, #businessblogs

#Businessblog is busier. Both tags are mostly B2B or B2C with a smattering of blogs about businesses.

#christmasblog

A little busier each week.

#craftblogger, #craftbloggers

Neither one of these are used very much. #Craftbloggers has more advertising.

#debtfree

Busy tag. A few blog posts, a lot of apps and service providers. Also a few MLMs, LOL. (I’m not trying to offend those of you who follow me and sell oils or other multi-level marketing products–but by and large, people lose money in those ventures and I don’t like that certain people on Twitter are trying to prey on people who are desperate to wriggle out from under debt.)

#foodblogfeed

Really active, despite the lack of retweet account. Contains a ton of Instagram content.

#foodblogger, #foodbloggers

These are both very busy, with #foodblogger taking the lead.

#frugalblog

Rarely used; last posts were in October.

#guestblog, #guestbloggerswanted, #guestpost, #guestposting

Pretty self-explanatory, no?

#guysthatblog

Pretty much just one guy that blogs.

#homebusiness

A morass of MLM trash. A few genuine blogs, a lot of pyramid scheme garbage. Did see a Malcolm X quote slapped on an essential oil ad, so maybe it’s good for a giggle. Also, stupid busy.

#lovetoblog

I think this tag is somehow connected to a Nigerian soap opera. Or maybe t’s the hashtag for a station. Either way, only a few lost bloggers end up here.

#maleblogger, #malebloggers

#Malebloggers is busier. Lots of grooming and fashion, some personal finance, some science, some fitness, pretty much anything. #Maleblogger gets several posts a day.

#marketingblog, #marketingblogs

#Marketingblog is busier and has less spam, a refreshing combo.

#mhblogsrt

Semi-active retweet account. For mental health blog posts only.

#mombloginfluence

A ghost town.

#moneyblog

Not used all that much.

#moneyblogger, #moneybloggers

#Moneyblogger is used more. Both seem to be UK-blog heavy.

#moneysavingblog

One user has all the posts (maybe five) since August.

#newblogger, #newbloggers

#Newblogger isn’t used very much, and #newbloggers only sees a few posts a week.

#newbloggerintown

Used very rarely.

#passiveincome, #smartpassiveincome

Some of these people  . . . don’t know what passive income is? It’s baffling. Go find the dictionary and look up “passive” and “active.” Anyway, #smartpassiveincome is pretty much one person, #passiveincome might have some diamonds amid the dreck but I didn’t see any.

#personalfinance

There are many blogs rubbing elbows with service providers in this tag. It’s very busy.

#personalstyleblogger

Posts are few and far between and it’s mostly IGers.

#plbchat

Active retweet account for beauty, fashion, craft, travel, food, and lifestyle blogs. @ Pretty Little Bloggers for a retweet.

#plussizeblogger

This is mostly Instagram pictures with a few blog posts mixed in. Pretty busy.

#positiveblog, #positiveblogger

These tags are barely used. Maybe negative bloggers are getting more traction.

#smallerbloggersrt, #smallbloggers_rt

The retweet account associated with this tag is long gone but that isn’t stopping anyone. Several posts a day.

#styleblogger, stylebloggers

These are both fairly busy but it’s mostly sellers and IGers. Boo.

#SunnyBlogs

Associated with the retweet account Sunshine Bloggers, this is a new tag and is still pretty inactive.

#teacupclub

Active blogging community. They have a lot of chats and mostly RT lifestyle blogs. Very busy tag.

#veganblogger, #veganbloggers

#Veganblogger is pretty busy and #veganbloggers is definitely not.

#wordpressblogger

I’m adding this one to my personal list. It’s a somewhat busy tag, but might expose your blog to new audiences.
